Overtrading happens when the need to participate becomes stronger than the criteria for a trade. It often feels productive because there is constant action, but action is not the same as edge.

Define an entry gate

Before the session, list the conditions that must be present: market context, setup, invalidation, and risk. If one is missing, the decision is no trade. This is how a trading checklist becomes useful.

Track the trade you almost took

Log skipped trades for a week. You will learn whether waiting truly made you miss quality setups or whether it mostly prevented impulse entries. Pair that review with FOMO in trading to identify the emotional trigger.

Fewer trades are not automatically better. Better-qualified trades are.
