The most useful trading mistakes to track are specific enough to count. “I traded badly” cannot be improved. “I entered before confirmation three times” can.
Start with oversizing, late entry, early exit, moved stop, skipped setup, traded news without a plan, added to a loser, revenge trade, FOMO entry, and breaking a daily limit. At week’s end, choose the most frequent one and build one guardrail around it.
Use this with a trading journal template and compare it against why traders underestimate rule breaking. A journal is valuable when it makes the next decision more deliberate.
