Position size calculator

Fix your dollar risk before the trade, not after. Enter your account size, risk tolerance, entry, and stop, get the exact size.

Dollar risk this trade$0
Risk per share/unit$0
Position size (shares/units)0
Total position value$0

This calculates the position size that keeps your dollar risk fixed at the percentage you set, based on the distance between your entry and stop. It does not account for fees, slippage, or gap risk, and it is not financial advice. Always confirm your broker's minimum size and margin requirements before placing a trade.

01 Why this matters

Position size should follow your stop, not your confidence

A tight stop allows a larger position for the same dollar risk. A wide stop requires a smaller one. Sizing by a fixed share count instead of by this calculation means your actual dollar risk changes every time your stop distance changes, which is how two trades that look similar on paper can carry very different real risk.
